Considering a Retail Merchant Account?
If you run a retail storefront, you need to accept credit cards. According to the U.S. government, nearly 75-percent of American families have one or more credit cards and many consider them their preferred method of payment. The fact is, if you don’t accept credit cards your customers will likely go to someone who can.
There’s more to accepting credit cards than just giving customers another way to pay. With AMG, you can get setup and running in a matter of days. Our application process makes it easy to apply. You can submit an application online, by fax, or by meeting with a sales representative at your business location. Your application will be approved almost immediately, your account will be activated, and if you’re buying or leasing new terminal equipment, it will arrive in just a few days.

Your customers expect you to accept credit cards for payment. AMG can help you and your business establish a merchant account and start processing within 3 days. No matter your type of business, we can find a home for your processing.
Merchant Accounts can vary from merchant to merchant and account to account. But for the most part, Merchant Accounts are broken down by the majority of how you will process your transactions. For example; if you process 50% or more by swiping the card through the terminal, then you will need a retail merchant account. For a complete breakdown, click here.

What is a Payment gateway?
A payment gateway is an e-commerce service that authorizes payments for e-businesses and online retailers. It is the equivalent of a physical POS (point-of-sale) terminal located in most retail outlets. A merchant account provider (such as AMG) is typically a separate company from the payment gateway. Some merchant account providers have their own payment gateways but the majority of companies use 3rd party payment gateways.
The gateway usually has 2 components: a) the virtual terminal that can allow for a merchant to securely login and key in credit card numbers or b) have the websites shopping-cart connect to the gateway via an API to allow for real time processing from the merchant’s website.
